Lebanese President Aoun and PM Salam meet to review plans for holding meeting with Israel

Beirut, Apr 18 (UNI) Lebanon's leadership is preparing for a significant moment in the country's political history, as it moves to conduct what could be Beirut's first direct negotiations with Israel in decades, as the country moves cautiously into the next phase after it reached a 10-day ceasefire with Jerusalem.
President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam met to review the situation following the truce and to discuss how Lebanon will approach the expected talks.
Issuing a statement, the presidency said the two leaders conducted "an assessment of the post-ceasefire phase and the ongoing efforts to consolidate it," and discussed the "Lebanese readiness for the anticipated negotiations" with Israel.
