Lakhs take holy dip, over 1.3 cr pilgrims visit Gangasagar fair

Sagar Island (WB), Jan 15 (UNI) Around 1.3 crore pilgrims visited this island on the southern tip of West Bengal to take a ritual dip at the Sagar Sangam — the confluence of the Ganga and the Bay of Bengal — during the ongoing Gangasagar fair till Thursday on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti.
About 150 km from Kolkata in the South 24 Parganas district, Sagar Island is considered auspicious by the Hindus, who gather here at this time of the year, braving the icy cold conditions and chilly winds.

Mizoram budget on Feb 26; assembly session extended to March 16
