Kudankulam data breach a potential supply chain cyberattack on India's critical Nuclear infrastructure

Thiruvananthapuram, July 16 (UNI) KS Manoj, one of India's leading cybersecurity professionals, has described the reported exposure of engineering documents related to the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant as a significant example of the growing cybersecurity threat posed by supply chain attacks against the country's Critical Information Infrastructure (CII).
Talking to UNI, Manoj said the reported incident does not indicate a direct cyberattack on the nuclear plant's operational technology (OT), reactor control systems or safety infrastructure.
Instead, based on information currently available in the public domain, the incident appears to represent a classic supply chain compromise in which attackers allegedly targeted a trusted contractor within the project's ecosystem rather than the nuclear facility itself.
