KTR slams Speaker’s verdict on defection issue, targets Rahul Gandhi

Hyderabad, March 12 (UNI) Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) Working President K T Rama Rao (KTR) on Thursday termed the Speaker’s verdict on disqualification petitions against defecting MLAs as “undemocratic and cruel,” alleging that it was part of a political game being played by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
Reacting to the decision of Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, KTR alleged that there was heavy pressure on the Speaker and that the ruling Indian National Congress was orchestrating the defection issue.
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader said it was unjust to allow a person elected as an MLA on a party ticket to contest as an MP on another party’s ticket without being disqualified. He accused the Congress of attacking democratic values and the Constitution through such actions.
