Kolkata Doctor murder: CBI arrests R G Kar ex-principal, police officer

Kolkata, Sep 14 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday night arrested R G Kar Medical College and Hospital's former principal Sandip Ghosh for alleged rape and murder of a medic and Tala Police station OC Abhijit Mondal for alleged delay in registration of the FIR (first information report) and missing evidence at the murder scene in the hospital on August nine.
Sources said the CBI probing the murder case of the 31-year-old resident doctor by an order of Calcutta high court on August 14 on Saturday afternoon summoned the OC and two others for interrogation at the CGO office.
After hours of interrogation, the CBI arrested the Tala PS OC for alleged delay in lodging FIR and missing links at the murder scene or alleged tampering with the evidence.
Ghosh, who was arrested by the anti-crime wing of the CBI in alleged irregularities of finance in the R G Kar hospital from 2021 onwards, was also arrested by the CBI in the murder case.
Ghosh is now in judicial custody by a court order till September 23.
The arrested Tala Police station Abhijit Mondal, who was admitted to a hospital and was evading the CBI summons, was recently released and appeared before the CBI this afternoon and finally was arrested.
With the arrest of the duo, three people have so far been arrested in the horrendous rape and murder at the government hospital.
Sources said the CBI would take Ghosh and Mondal for a medical test at a hospital tonight, along with the central forces, and they would be produced before the court on Sunday.
