Kolasib announces guidelines for highway repairs

Aizawl, Aug 3 (UNI) Kolasib district authorities in northern Mizoram have announced measures to ensure smooth traffic flow along National Highways 306 and 06, allowing critical repairs to proceed unhindered by stranded vehicles.
The district administration is working closely with the National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and the state Public Works Department (PWD) to address the worsening condition of the highways that are vital lifelines linking Mizoram to the rest of India via Assam.
In a strategic move, the Mizoram government has decided to utilise the upcoming suspension of commercial vehicle services, from Monday to Saturday, to conduct urgent repair works on these highways. A joint committee, made up of 24 associations of commercial vehicle owners and drivers, has agreed to halt operations during this period, ensuring no vehicular interference with the ongoing works. This cooperation will enable NHIDCL and the state government to focus on restoring the highways efficiently.
