Kohli quashes retirement rumours, says he still loves playing

Bengaluru, Mar 16 (UNI) India's cricket legend Virat Kohli has once again put an end to swirling retirement rumours, reaffirming his passion and unwavering commitment to the game.
Speaking at the RCB Innovation Lab, the former India captain assured fans that he has no immediate plans to hang up his boots.
"Don’t get nervous. I am not making any announcements. As of now, everything is fine. I still love playing the game," Kohli said, bringing a sigh of relief to millions of his supporters.
Reflecting on the inevitable question of retirement, Kohli recalled a conversation with head coach Rahul Dravid, who advised him to stay in touch with himself and assess where he stands in life before making such a decision.
Acknowledging the mental and physical challenges of continuing at the highest level, Kohli stated that it is never easy to determine the right time to step away.
He mentioned that players often go through lean phases, which might create doubts, but that does not necessarily mean the end. However, when the time eventually comes, he believes his competitive streak will make it hard for him to accept it immediately.
Kohli also reflected on the effort required to maintain energy levels as an athlete ages. He pointed out that things which were easier in his mid-20s now demand much more effort in his mid-to-late 30s. Despite the challenges, he emphasised that he feels happy at this stage of his career and continues to enjoy the game.
While discussing his evolving approach, Kohli said he feels a sense of peace and calm in his current state of mind. He believes it is a natural progression for every player and hopes the younger generation will also experience this at some point in their careers. UNI BDN SSP
