KIMS doctors save one-year-old with rare Craniofacial disorder through complex surgery

Bhubaneswar, Jan 16 (UNI) Doctors at the Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) have successfully performed a rare and highly complex craniofacial surgery on a one-year-old child, marking a significant milestone in advanced paediatric care in Odisha.
The child was admitted with bulging eyes, an abnormally shaped skull, and delayed growth. A CT scan revealed dangerously elevated pressure inside the skull, a life-threatening condition that could have severely impaired brain development if left untreated.
Based on clinical symptoms and radiological findings, doctors diagnosed the child with Crouzon’s Syndrome, a rare congenital disorder in which certain skull bones fuse prematurely.
