Key technical questions still await answers 1 year after AI 171 tragedy: cyber expert from Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, June 13 (UNI) One year after the AI 171 tragedy in Ahmedabad of Gujarat, several critical technical questions surrounding the accident remain unanswered, prompting renewed calls from sections of the aviation and engineering community for greater transparency in the ongoing investigation.
K.S. Manoj, an automation and cybersecurity professional, has said the concern was not simply that final answers had yet to emerge, but that some of the most important technical issues had not been publicly addressed. He stressed that a comprehensive understanding of the sequence of events was essential for aviation safety and public confidence.
Among the unresolved questions, Manoj pointed to the movement of the aircraft's fuel-control switches. If investigators have established that the switches moved, he said, it remains unclear whether the Flight Data Recorder captured the actual physical movement of the switches or merely recorded a corresponding change in system status.
