Kerala unveils ‘Cyber Safety Protocol 2026’ to protect students in AI era

Thiruvananthapuram, March 8 (UNI) In a major step aimed at strengthening digital safety in schools, Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE), the technology arm of the General Education Department, Government of Kerala, has released the ‘Cyber Safety Protocol 2026’, a comprehensive framework designed to safeguard students in the rapidly evolving Artificial Intelligence (AI) era.
The protocol seeks to ensure a secure digital learning environment across Kerala’s public school system by addressing emerging challenges such as AI-driven cyber threats, misuse of generative AI tools, and online exploitation.
Developed after analysing evolving cybercrime patterns and technological risks, the framework provides detailed guidelines for school authorities, teachers, students, and parents while aligning with existing legal standards.
