Kerala: Tharoor expresses regret over missing Satheesan’s swearing-in, cites prior US engagements

Thiruvananthapuram, May 17 (UNI) Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has expressed regret over his inability to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Kerala Chief Minister-designate V. D. Satheesan, citing prior professional and academic commitments in the United States.
In a message shared ahead of the ceremony, Tharoor said he was “sorry to be missing” the swearing-in of his Indian National Congress–Kerala colleague, noting that he was currently in Boston to deliver the commencement address at the graduation ceremony of his alma mater, the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy at Tufts University, as well as to attend the 50th anniversary reunion of his graduating class.
Tharoor said his travel schedule had been fixed well in advance and could not be rescheduled, as he was already abroad for pre-planned engagements. He conveyed his apologies for missing the important political event and extended his best wishes to Satheesan and the incoming United Democratic Front (UDF) government.
