Kerala's first export consignment to UK under India–UK FTA flagged off from Kochi

Kochi, July 15 (UNI) The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Regional Authority, Kochi, has flagged off the first export consignment from Kerala to the United Kingdom under the India–UK Free Trade Agreement (Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement–CETA) from the Cochin Port Authority, marking the State's formal entry into exports under the landmark trade pact.
On the occasion, the DGFT presented a Letter of Recognition to the exporting firm in acknowledgement of becoming the first exporter from Kerala to ship goods to the United Kingdom under the India–UK CETA.
The flag-off marks the commencement of exports from Kerala under the newly signed India–UK Free Trade Agreement, which is expected to significantly improve the competitiveness of Indian exporters while creating fresh opportunities for key sectors in the State, including marine products, spices and processed food products.
