Kerala film market third edition to begin on Sunday

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 14 (UNI) The third edition of the Kerala Film Market (KFM) will begin here on Sunday, marking another step in strengthening Kerala’s engagement with the global film industry.
The market is structured around three key segments—Project Market, Video Library and Industry Voices.
The Project Market, designed to connect film projects at the development stage with potential co-producers, received 54 submissions. From these, 12 projects representing 11 countries have been shortlisted.
Two Malayalam projects figure in the final selection, and their directors and producers will pitch the films before international producers, sales agents and distributors participating in the market.
The Video Library segment, curated for films seeking international exposure and gap financing, features 13 titles selected under the “Curators’ Pick” category, including two Malayalam films.
To further expand the global reach of Malayalam cinema, films screened at the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), along with productions of the Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC), will also be made available in the Video Library for viewing by international distributors, sales agents and producers.
The Industry Voices segment will feature panel discussions and masterclasses led by experts, focusing on a wide range of issues relevant to the film industry.
KSFDC Managing Director P.S. Priyadarshanan said the Kerala Film Market has the potential to open up new global commercial avenues for Malayalam cinema.
KSFDC Chairman K. Madhu said the participation of leading film professionals from different parts of the world would significantly strengthen Indian cinema, both creatively and commercially.
