Kerala CM Vijyan highlights Rs 10,000 plus crore investment in Health sector through KIIFB funds

Kannur, Aug 11 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi VIjayan announced that the State government has allocated more than Rs 10,000 crore through "The Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board" (KIIFB) alone for the development of infrastructure in the health sector, while speaking the dedication of Super Speciality block at the Kannur District hospital to the people on Monday.
Mr Pinarayi Vijayan detailed that Rs 5,700 crore has received administrative approval for 78 projects across general, district and taluk hospitals, as well as cancer treatment centres across the state.
Additionally, Rs 3,200 crore was sanctioned for 17 Medical college infrastructure projects, and Rs 450 crore was allocated to 31 hospitals via National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) financial assistance. KIIFB,a non budgetary funding mechanism, along with the Aardram mission, has played a vital role in these developments, he said.

Cong-led UDF wins Vizhinjam ward in special poll, LDF suffers setback

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 13 (UNI) The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) on Tuesday registered a crucial victory in the special election to the newly constituted Vizhinjam ward of the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, dealing a significant setback to the ruling CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) in a keenly fought civic contest that had wide political ramifications.
According to official results, Congress candidate K.H. Sudheer Khan, representing the UDF, won the Vizhinjam seat by a narrow margin of 83 votes, polling 2,902 votes.
