Meghalaya filmmaker Kurbah wins big at Moscow International Film Festival

Shillong, Apr 25 (UNI) Two-time National Film Award (India) winner and self-taught filmmaker, Pradip Kurbah from Meghalaya, won two major honours at the Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) 2025 for his Khasi film ‘Ha Lyngkha Bneng.’

Kurbah’s film ‘Ha Lyngkha Bneng’, or ‘The Elysian Field’ in English, tells the story of a secluded village in Meghalaya gradually being deserted due to urban migration. It explores themes of loneliness, resilience, and the strength of human connections through the lens of friendship and survival.

Los Angeles, Apr 25 (UNI) Experimental rock band Pere Ubu founder David Thomas has died aged 71. A highly important figure in the rock scene, his passing was announced by his band members on their Facebook account, who only said that he died after battling a “a long illness".

'Godfather’ director Francis Ford Coppola announces graphic novel based on 2024 film ‘Megapolis’

Los Angeles, Apr 25 (UNI) Hollywood legend Francis Ford Coppola, has announced a graphic novel based on his 2024 film ‘Megapolis’, which will reinterpret the film’s story.
The book is titled ‘Francis Ford Coppola‘s Megalopolis: An Original Graphic Novel’, and will be penned by writer Chris Ryall who has a reputation for adapting the works of big authors such as Stephen King, Clive Barker and Harlan Ellison.
