Karun Nair tops Maharaja Trophy Season 5 auction

Bengaluru, June 5 (UNI) The Season 5 Player Auction of the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 witnessed a dramatic opening of bids and aggressive franchise strategies, with the two new teams Coastal Kings Mangaluru and Shivamogga Yodhas emerging as the biggest disruptors, headlined by marquee buys and intense competition for top domestic talent.
Mangaluru made the standout move of the auction, securing Karun Nair for a tournament-high ₹18 lakh, setting the tone for an aggressive build-up ahead of their debut season. Shivamogga were not far behind, landing promising batsman Ravichandran Smaran for ₹15.75 lakh, making him one of the most expensive young picks of the day.
Hubli Tigers strengthened their top order by snapping up Abhinav Manohar for ₹13.50 lakh, while Gulbarga Mystics added experience and stability with the signing of Manish Pandey for ₹12.75 lakh. Gulbarga further bolstered their middle order with explosive all-rounder Macneil Noronha for ₹12.25 lakh.
