Kartik Aaryan, Abhishek Bachchan and Alia Bhatt shine at 70th Filmfare Awards

Ahmedabad, Oct 12 (UNI) Bollywood actors Kartik Aaryan, Abhishek Bachchan and Alia Bhatt were celebrated at the 70th Filmfare Awards, with Aaryan and Bachchan jointly receiving the Best Actor accolade and Bhatt being Best Actress.
The ceremony, held on Saturday in Ahmedabad, was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar and Manish Paul and featured dazzling performances alongside the announcement of the evening's winners.
Among the evening's most lauded films was "Laapataa Ladies", which swept multiple honours, including Best Film and Best Director for Kiran Rao, underscoring its critical and popular acclaim. Aaryan was recognised for his riveting performance in "Chandu Champion" while Bachchan earned plaudits for his nuanced portrayal in "I Want to Talk", resulting in a shared Best Actor triumph. Bhatt's intense and emotive performance in "Jigra" garnered her the Best Actress award.
The Critics Award for Best Actor was given to Rajkummar Rao for the film "Shrikanth", while the Critics Award for Best Actress was given to Pratibha Ranta for the film "Laapataa Ladies". Supporting accolades went to Ravi Kishan and Chhaya Kadam for their film performances in "Laapataa Ladies". Other notable honours include Best Film (Critics) awarded to "I Want to Talk", directed by Shoojit Sircar.
Emerging talent was recognised with Lakshya winning Best Debut Actor award for "Kill"and Nitanshi Goyal being named Best Debut Female Actress for "Laapataa Ladies". The music dimension of the evening echoed the film's dominance - Arijit Singh and Madhubanti Bagchi won the Best Playback Singer awards and Ram Sampath triumphed in both the Best Background Score and Best Music Album categories, underlining his versatility and sonic ingenuity.
The Best Story award went to Aditya Dhar and Monika Thakar ('Article 370'), while the Best Screenplay award went to Sneha Desai for "Laapataa ladies". The Best Debut Director award was jointly presented to Kunal Khemu for 'Madgaon Express' and Aditya Suhas Jambhale for 'Article 370'. Bosco-Caesar were selected for Best Choreography and Rafi Mehmood was awarded for his masterful cinematography for the film "Kill".
Apart from this, special awards were also given. Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Zeenat Aman and Shyam Benegal (posthumously). RD Burman Award for emerging talent in music was given to Achint Thakkar. In Filmfare Awards 2025, the hit pair of Shah Rukh and Kajol enthralled the audience with their performance on stage, which mesmerised the audience.
Kirti Sanon and Lakshya paid tribute to Shammi Kapoor and Zeenat Aman by grooving on their songs respectively, which added to the grandeur of the event.
