Karnataka legislators pay tributes to late Shivashankarappa

Bengaluru, Dec 15 (UNI) Karnataka legislators on Monday paid rich tributes to veteran Congress leader and philanthropist Shamanuru Shivashankarappa, remembering him as a towering personality who transformed Davanagere into a major centre of education and industry through decades of public life and charity.
Shivashankarappa, the senior-most legislator in the country, passed away at the age of 94 on Sunday. Members across party lines spoke during condolence references in the Legislative Assembly and Council, highlighting his contributions to education, industry, politics and social welfare.
Congress legislator CS Nadagouda, a long-time associate, described Shivashankarappa’s life as an example of selfless service. He said the veteran leader showed how a fulfilling life could be lived through generosity and commitment to society, recalling several instances of his readiness to help the needy without hesitation.
