Kannauj: Student jumps into Kali River fearing police, goes missing: three cops suspended

Kannauj, Oct 12 (UNI) In a shocking incident from the Gurusahai Ganj area of Kannauj, a high school student jumped into the Kali River after reportedly panicking at the sight of police officers. The student, identified as Dharmaveer Kumar, went missing in the river and a search operation has been underway since Sunday afternoon.
The incident took place around 12:30 PM when a police team arrived at the home of Kamlesh Kumar in Devi Purwa village, searching for his elder son, Kishanpal, who had allegedly eloped with a local girl two years ago. An abduction case had been registered at the time, but both Kishanpal and the girl have remained untraceable since.
Upon receiving a tip-off that Kishanpal had returned to the village, police personnel visited the family's home but found only his mother and younger brothers present. They questioned 10-year-old Ramjeet, who revealed that his other brother, Dharmaveer, was working in the fields.
