Kaleshwaram project marred by flaws, action will be taken: CM Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad, Apr 20 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday alleged that the Kaleshwaram project was plagued by serious flaws and irregularities, asserting that the state government would take action against those responsible while ensuring its restoration.
Speaking to the media after inspecting and reviewing the Medigadda barrage, the Chief Minister traced the origins of irrigation efforts in North Telangana to a 1975 agreement during the tenure of former Chief Minister Jalagam Vengala Rao.
He noted that the Pranahita-Chevella project, initiated in 2009 with an estimated cost of Rs 38,063 crore, was later altered under the previous government, leading to a steep escalation of costs to around Rs 1.5 lakh crore.
