Jyotirmath Shankaracharya criticises Thackeray cousins over 'hypocritical' opposition to Hindi

Mumbai, July 10 (UNI) Jyotirmath’s Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand has alleged that the Thackeray cousin brothers’ recent opposition to Hindi and their professed love for Marathi is politically motivated and hypocritical.
He claimed that their stance is driven by a desire to regain political power, especially with the upcoming municipal elections in mind. Furthermore, he controversially stated that the Thackeray family does not have Marathi origins and hails originally from Magadh in Bihar.
Swami Avimukteshwaranand’s remarks come after the Maharashtra government recently withdrew its order mandating the teaching of Hindi from Class 1 under the “three-language formula” following widespread criticism.
