Joint campaign against child marriage in Kashi, appeal for public cooperation

Varanasi, April 18 (UNI) On Akshaya Tritiya (April 19), also known as Akha Teej, District Probation Officer Pankaj Kumar Mishra has appealed to all citizens of Varanasi district to keep this holy day free from social evils and cooperate with the administration in completely eliminating the illegal and harmful practice of child marriage.
He stated that incidents of child marriage continue to be reported on Akshaya Tritiya, and it is extremely important to prevent them. Child marriage is not only a legal crime but also a serious injustice to the health, education, and future of boys and girls.
The District Probation Officer has requested all parents, village heads, Anganwadi workers, teachers, social organizations, and the police department to maintain vigilant surveillance in their respective areas and immediately report any suspected child marriage to the administration. The police department has also been urged to take prompt cognizance of such cases and ensure necessary legal action.
