Jharkhand: state gears up for Chhath Puja; NDRF on high alert for safety

Ranchi, Oct 24 (UNI) With the four-day festival of faith and devotion, Chhath Mahaparv, set to begin tomorrow, preparations are in full swing across Jharkhand, including the state capital. Ministers, MPs, and district officials are conducting continuous inspections at major Chhath Ghats to ensure safety, cleanliness, and the smooth conduct of the festival.
Deputy Commissioners are personally visiting ghats in district headquarters across the state, instructing officials to intensify cleaning and maintenance work. Given the large gatherings expected at rivers, ponds, and water bodies, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been placed on high alert, with teams deployed in key districts.
NDRF Deputy Commandant Vinay Kumar confirmed that all necessary rehearsals and mock drills have been completed. “Special arrangements have been made for monitoring water levels, ensuring ghat safety, deploying boat teams, and handling any potential emergency situations,” he said, adding that NDRF teams will remain fully alert during the entire Chhath Puja period.
