Jharkhand signs ₹11,100 crore Green Steel Investment Pact with Tata Steel at WEF Davos

Ranchi, Jan 20 (UNI) On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting at Davos, the Government of Jharkhand, under the leadership of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, held a series of high-level engagements with leading global industry players, marking a significant step towards sustainable industrialisation, advanced infrastructure development, and global technology partnerships for the State.
The Government of Jharkhand and Tata Steel signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) outlining a proposed investment of over ₹11,100 crore in next-generation Green Steel technologies. The agreement aims to support India’s transition towards low-carbon, environmentally responsible industrial growth while creating substantial direct and indirect employment opportunities in Jharkhand.
The partnership envisages the introduction of advanced ironmaking technologies from the Netherlands and Germany, positioning Jharkhand as a frontrunner in sustainable manufacturing. The meeting was attended by T. V. Narendran, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Steel, along with senior company officials.
