Jharkhand Khadi Board’s Saras Mela to commence from Dec 22

Ranchi, Dec 18 (UNI) The Jharkhand Khadi Board would be organising the Saras Mela at the Morhabadi Grounds from December 22 to January 7, 2018, which would be inaugurated by Chief Minister Raghubar Das.
Jharkhand Khadi Board Chairman Sanjay Seth in a press conference at the Mela Venue located at Morhabadi Grounds here said that all preparations for the event have been made and said that participants from 22 states would be putting up their shops at 1000 stalls which have been erected at the venue. Mr Seth said that apart from the chief minister others who would be also present in the inauguration function would include Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Dinesh Oraon, cabinet ministers Neelkanth Singh Munda, C P Singh, Padamshri Ashok Bhagat and Ranchi Mayor Asha Lakra.
He said such has been the response that despite the stalls being full the board has received requests from more than 150 artisans who want to participate in the event. He said that last year a total of 680 stalls were put up during the event and a business of Rs 15 crore was reported during the event out of which 60-65 pc of the sell was cashless as the mela had been organised just after the announcement of the demonetisation. He said that this year too POS machines would be installed in the mela premises to promote cashless business.
