Jharkhand HC stays police action on FIR amid ED–Police standoff, orders security for ED officials

Ranchi, Jan 16 (UNI) Amid an escalating confrontation between the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Jharkhand Police, the Jharkhand High Court on Friday stayed all police action on the FIR lodged by Santosh Kumar, an accused in the alleged drinking water scam.
The court also directed the state government to provide full security to ED officials.
Hearing a writ petition filed by the ED, the High Court ordered that no coercive action shall be taken against ED officials for the time being. The order has brought significant relief to the officers of the central agency who were named in the FIR lodged by Santosh Kumar, a money laundering accused linked to the drinking water supply scam.
