Jharkhand HC orders immediate appointment of 8 successful candidates of CCS exam

Ranchi, Dec 11 (UNI) The Jharkhand High Court on Thursday directed the state government to immediately appoint and initiate training of eight candidates who had successfully cleared the Jharkhand Public Service Commission's (JPSC) 11th to 13th Combined Civil Services Examination but were excluded from the final appointment list.
The judgement was delivered by the bench of Justice Ananda Sen, following a petition filed by ten successful candidates who were denied appointment despite securing high scores in their respective categories. The petitioners include Jitendra Rajak, Suraj Kumar Yadav, Neeraj Kumar, Ashutosh Kumar, Suditi Suman, Rupali Roshan, Suraj Kumar, and Rupendra Prasad.
Appearing on behalf of the petitioners, advocate Amritansh Vats argued that the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) had arbitrarily excluded the candidates on the grounds that nine seats had been kept reserved due to a separate pending case in the High Court. He submitted that the decision was unjustified, as the petitioners were all high-merit candidates and had secured more marks than several others who remained in the selection list. If seats had to be reserved, he contended, exclusions should have applied to lower-ranked candidates and not those with superior merit.
