Jharkhand HC dismisses plea alleging bias by former Lokayukta in Ranchi University case

Ranchi, June 10 (UNI) The Jharkhand High Court has dismissed a writ petition challenging a 2012 order of the then Lokayukta which had alleged bias on the ground that the complaint involved the Lokayukta's brother.
Justice Sanjay Kumar Dwivedi, in a judgment delivered on June 9, held that there was no illegality in the Lokayukta's decision rejecting a complaint seeking an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or the Accountant General into alleged financial irregularities connected with Ranchi University.
The petition was filed by Satyadeo Roy, who had challenged an order passed by then Lokayukta Justice (Retd.) Amreshwar Sahay on April 30, 2012. The petitioner contended that the Lokayukta should not have decided the matter because one of the persons against whom allegations were raised was his brother, Jyoti Kumar.
