Jharkhand Food Minister urges centre to release Rs 227 cr under PMGKAY

Ranchi, Sept 12, (UNI) Jharkhand Food and Civil Supplies Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari has written to union Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister Pralhad Joshi, demanding the immediate release of Rs 2,27,65,65,128 under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY).

Dr. Ansari emphasized that the funds are crucial to ensure benefits reach lakhs of poor and needy families in the state. Dr Ansari, stated, "Due to the Centre’s indifference, Jharkhand’s vulnerable households are not receiving timely assistance. Pending payments for dealer commissions, transportation, and handling charges have been withheld for several months, causing growing discontent among supply workers and triggering protests across the state."
