Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren honoured with 'white badge' at World Economic Forum

Ranchi, Jan 20 (UNI) Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren created history by becoming the first tribal elected leader from India to participate in the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) at Davos. In recognition of his leadership and the transformative initiatives undertaken by the Government of Jharkhand, WEF representatives honoured the Chief Minister with the prestigious 'White Badge', a distinction traditionally accorded to heads of state and government.
The White Badge is conferred upon select global leaders and provides uniform access to the WEF Congress Centre and all exclusive WEF sessions. This honour marks a significant moment of pride for Jharkhand and reflects the State’s growing recognition on the global platform.
Several world leaders, including the President of the United States, Donald Trump, are scheduled to participate in sessions at the WEF Congress Centre during the ongoing annual meeting.

Accused arrested in double murder case within 36 hours

Man sentenced to life imprisonment for raping stepdaughter

Agartala, Feb 14 (UNI) A 52-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a special POCSO court in West Tripura for raping his 11-year-old stepdaughter in April 2024 in the Mandai area on the eastern outskirts of Agartala.
Special Public Prosecutor Jayanta Chowdhury said that the court ruled that the convict will remain behind bars for the remainder of his natural life. In addition to life imprisonment, the convict was fined Rs 5,000.

Over 6 61 lakh voter names set to be dropped as SIR hearings end in Bengal

Kolkata, Feb 14 (UNI) The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) hearings of electoral rolls in West Bengal concluded on Saturday after 50 days, with the Election Commission of India estimating that 6.61 lakh voter names may be deleted, most of them linked to nearly 5 lakh voters who failed to appear for hearings.
