Jena urges Odisha CM to ensure SEBC/OBC reservation in local body polls

Bhubaneswar, Feb 17 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and former union minister Srikant Jena has urged Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to provide proportionate reservation for SEBC/OBC communities in the forthcoming elections to newly formed Notified Area Councils (NACs) and Municipalities, as well as in the next cycle of local body elections across the state.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister, Jena drew attention to the scheduled elections in the newly constituted urban local bodies.
He pointed out that while reservations for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) are already in place, several other states have extended similar provisions to SEBC/OBC communities to promote inclusive and equitable political representation.
