JD(U) seeks probe into ‘diamond bracelet’ gifted by Rabri Devi to singer

Patna, June 13 (UNI): A political controversy has erupted in Bihar over a “diamond-studded bracelet” gifted by former Chief Minister Rabri Devi to folk singer Chhotu Chhaliya on the occasion of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s birthday. JD(U) MLC Neeraj Kumar has written to the Economic Offences Unit (EOU), seeking an investigation into the purchase, payment, and source of the bracelet.
Supporting his demand for an inquiry, Kumar said that Chhotu Chhaliya himself had claimed that the bracelet gifted by Rabri Devi was diamond-studded. He argued that individuals in public life should disclose the source of expensive gifts.
“Where did this diamond bracelet come from? What is its source? Where is its purchase receipt? What is its market value? Based on the provisions of the Income Tax Act, 1961, the Benami Transactions Act, 1988, the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002, and other available evidence, the Economic Offences Unit should conduct a thorough investigation into the matter,” he said.
