Japan's TDK Ventures invests in Ultraviolette

Bengaluru, Aug 12 (UNI) Japanese deep-tech investor TDK Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of TDK Corporation, has invested in Bengaluru-based Ultraviolette Automotive to accelerate the electrification of two-wheelers and advance innovation in battery technologies.
The latest $21 million funding round saw strategic participation from TDK Ventures alongside strong continued backing from existing investors Zoho Corporation and Lingotto (formerly Exor Capital), as well as other leading institutional investors.
Ultraviolette, known for its flagship electric motorcycle F77, plans to expand its retail footprint from the current 20 cities to over 100 across India. The F77 is the first Indian electric two-wheeler to receive European certification and is already being sold in 10 European countries.
TDK Ventures’ entry adds to Ultraviolette’s roster of high-profile institutional investors, including Qualcomm Ventures, Zoho Corporation, Speciale Invest, Lingotto, and TVS Motor Company. Other notable backers include Swiggy Co-founder & CEO Sriharsha Majety, Cure Foods Co-founder Ankit Nagori, TaxiForSure Co-founder Aprameya Radhakrishna, and actor Dulquer Salmaan.

Our partnership with TDK Ventures fast-forwards our efforts, from advanced battery platforms to intelligent vehicle systems,” said Narayan Subramaniam, CEO and Co-founder of Ultraviolette.
Niraj Rajmohan, CTO and Co-founder, said the collaboration would push the boundaries in building safer, smarter, and more efficient electric mobility systems.
Ravi Jain, Investment Director at TDK Ventures, said, “We look forward to bringing our TDK Goodness to Ultraviolette and their ambitious plan to design the next generation of energy-efficient and performance EV two-wheeler platforms.”
In 2023, TDK Ventures launched its Bengaluru Innovation Hub to support India’s deep-tech startups in scaling their technologies globally, aligning with its mission to advance sustainable energy, mobility, and environmental solutions.
