Jadhav urges Delhi CM to plant medicinal plants in proposed eight forests

New Delhi, Jul 10 (UNI) Ayush Minister Pratap Rao Jadhav has urged Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to include 20 per cent medicinal plants in the proposed eight theme-based forests being developed under the city's massive plantation drive rolled out recently, according to officials from the Ministry.
The minister made his request in a letter written to the Delhi CM, wherein he stated that at least 20 per cent of the plantation in the proposed eight forests be devoted to medicinal plant species, or that a minimum of two forests be developed as dedicated Medicinal Forests (Aushadhi Vans).
On Tuesday (July 7), Delhi rolled out its campaign to plant 70 lakh saplings, using a science-backed approach, across the city during 2026-27. The project also included a plan to develop eight theme-based forests — Panchavati Van, Nakshatra Van, Bel Van, Ritu Van, Rishi Van, Tirthankar Van, Vaman Vriksh Van and Kurani Vatika.

Six held, over 9,400 quarters of illicit liquor seized in Outer North Delhi

New Delhi, Aug 15 (UNI) Delhi Police has arrested six alleged bootleggers and seized 9,430 quarters and 1,000 pouches of illicit liquor, during a special enforcement drive against the illegal liquor trade in Outer North district, officials said on Saturday.
According to police, six cases were registered under the Delhi Excise Act following coordinated raids, surveillance and checking operations conducted across vulnerable areas of the district on August 14.
