J&K: Suspected IED found in Bandipora Srinagar road

Srinagar, Mar 19 (UNI) A suspected improvised explosive device (IED) was detected in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district this morning, officials said on Wednesday.
They said a suspicious object was detected along the Bandipora- Srinagar highway near “sun set point” at around 9 am by the road opening party of the forces.
The bomb disposal squad was immediately called on the spot and the traffic along the highway was also halted.
“ BDS is on the job to safely neutralize the device,” officials said.
Security forces have recovered and neutralized three IEDs in Kashmir since Sunday.

2 61 lakh applications received in UP for admission in private schools under the RTE

Lucknow, Feb 17 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh has received a record number of applications this year for free admission to 25 per cent seats in private schools under the Right to Education Act (RTE). A total of 261,501 applications were received from all 75 districts in the state in the first phase of the 2026-27 academic session, compared to 132,446 in the first phase of the previous 2025-26 academic session.
