J&K polls: Kharge asks people to uproot BJP

Srinagar, Sep 11 (UNI) Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and asked the people of Jammu and Kashmir to uproot them and remove them from power.

Kharge, while referring to the Lok Sabha polls, said that the INDIA alliance was 20 seats away from sending many of the BJP leaders to jail.

“They (BJP) used to claim they would win 400 seats, but they couldn't even cross 240. If we had won just 20 more seats, many of them would have been in jail. These people are looters and should be in jail,” the Congress president Khrage said during a poll rally in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

The Congress president asked the people not to lose hope and ensure the win of INDIA alliance.

“..I say to you, don't lose hope. Fight for your rights. Your leaders and captains are strong. We will fight for Jammu and Kashmir, and my party will stand with you, as will Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. We must unite and work together to win,” he said.

Khrage said the BJP government has reduced Jammu and Kashmir into union territory and promised to restore the Statehood.

“…Union Territories have been made into states. Goa was a Union Territory, and it was made a state. But Jammu and Kashmir, which was a state, has been reduced to a Union Territory. This is (Narendra) Modi and (Amit)Shah's government. That’s why we must not let them thrive here. Uproot them and remove them from power. The National Conference (NC) and Congress will work together to bring change, and when our government comes to power, we will fulfill all the promises we make. We will restore Jammu and Kashmir's statehood, and we will fight for it,” the Congress president said.

He said after the NC and Congress form the government here, they will also re-establish the Upper and Lower Houses (bicameral legislature).
“Some people might ask how we will achieve this, but when the people are with us, nothing can stop us. The people will decide, not them. I request you to reject the central government's governance which is LG ruled, which is full of corruption and immoral activities. We will put an end to this,” he added.

Kharge accused the BJP leaders of only delivering speeches and telling lies.

“In their speeches, they have told so many lies that no politician till date has lied as much as them,” he alleged.

Khrage said the BJP government can't scare them with agencies like CBI or ED.
“Our workers are not afraid, from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, from Manipur to Gujarat. Even if the Modi government tries to suppress us, we stand strong. Their government is a minority government. It is not a full-fledged one,” he said.

The Congress president promised the Congress-NC government would fulfill the promise of rehabilitating Kashmiri Pandit migrants made during Manmohan Singh’s term
He said that once their government comes in power, they would fulfill one lakh vacant posts in J&K.
He also promised a monthly stipend of Rs 3,000 for women heads of households and the restoration of the provision to provide 11 kg of grains per person through the public distribution system. UNI MJR GNK SSP
