J&K: Police nabs man who fled away with SPO's AK-47

Jammu, June 19 (UNI) Police on Wednesday, after hectic efforts, nabbed a man who fled away with an official Ak-47 weapon of the Special Police Officer (SPO) in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Police said that after a night-long search operation, a man identified as Mohammad Rafi, a resident of Trown near Pranoo, was taken into custody from a nearby village.
Rafi on Tuesday fled away with an official weapon of SPO, namely Safdar Hussain, who had taken a lift in his car, and when he stepped out to buy a water bottle at Pull Doda, Rafi ran away.
"The vehicle was recovered near the Jagota area of Bhalla, and searches were launched," said police.
"He (Rafi) has been apprehended, and a weapon has also been recovered while the motive behind this act is being investigated," said a senior police officer.
