J&K: MP Rashid meets LG Sinha

Srinagar, Oct 12 (UNI) Member Parliament Baramulla and president of Awami Ittehad party Abdul Rashid Sheikh on Saturday met Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and raised issues related to prisoners, terminated employees and police verification.

A spokesman of the AIP said that MP Rashid popularly known as Engineer Rashid briefed LG about the grave burning demands of people of North Kashmir.

“Er Rasheed submitted memorandum pertaining to burning issues of entire north Kashmir assembly segments and urged LG to relook in the cases of terminated government employees and sought LG’s intervention to release of all prisoners lodged in and outside jails of Jammu & Kashmir,” the spokesman of the party said.
He said Rasheed also briefed LG about the difficulties being faced by the people in the name of police verifications and demanded that harassment of youth and others in the name of verification by the police may be immediately stopped.

Rashid also asked LG to convey the center government that if it could talk to people of Ladakh and North East, why couldn’t talk to people of Jammu and Kashmir to resolve their legitimate issues and political rights.

He also urged LG to ensure that human rights, self respect and dignity of common people needed to be maintained at all costs.
Rashid also sought quick disposal of pending passport cases and urged LG to ensure that youth are given passport without getting involved in unnecessary issues.

The MP also sought accountability and transparency into the governance and urged him to convey the government machinery that they need not to forget that the primary duty of any public servant is to serve the people without being biased to them and without indulging in corruption and nepotism.

The spokesman said LG Sinha assured MP Baramulla that he would certainly and seriously look into the issues brought into his notice.
