ITI joins Kerala govt to launch Kerala Savaari 2.0

Bengaluru, Nov 12 (UNI) ITI Limited, the country's first public sector undertaking post-independence and a premier telecom manufacturing company, has collaborated with the Kerala government to launch the upgraded version of its online auto and cab booking platform, Kerala Savaari 2.0.
Kerala Savaari is already operational in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi. The app aims to become a multi-modal transport system by December 2025, integrating metro, water metro, feeder buses, autos, and cabs, thereby serving as a model for other Indian states. The service will be extended to more districts after full-fledged operations in the two cities.
Implemented by the Kerala Motor Workers Welfare Fund Board under the Labour Department, the project operates on a government-fixed subscription model that ensures higher and stable income for drivers, unlike private aggregators. Trial runs conducted since April 2025 in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi were reported successful.
So far, 23,000 drivers have been onboarded, completing 3.6 lakh trips and generating Rs. 9.36 crore in driver revenue, with around 1,200 daily trips.
Speaking at the event, Minister V Sivankutty said, "Kerala Savaari is not just an app, but a symbol of the government's commitment to worker welfare and affordable, safe travel for the public."
ITI Limited CMD Rajesh Rai said, "We are delighted to partner with the Kerala Government to launch this commuter-friendly platform. ITI's Palakkad Unit has been supporting several state initiatives, from digitisation projects to supplying IT infrastructure. With Kerala Savaari 2.0, commuters across the state will benefit from a robust and government-backed transport platform."
He added that the shortcomings of the 2022 pilot version had been addressed, and ITI's Palakkad Unit will continue to provide technical support for the platform's smooth functioning.
Kerala Savaari is a fully government-owned initiative developed under the Kerala Motor Workers Welfare Board in partnership with the Labour, Police, Transport, IT, and Planning departments.
