Irregular purchases, healthcare gaps and education issues raised in Jharkhand Assembly

Ranchi, Dec 9 (UNI) The Jharkhand Assembly on Tuesday saw members flag several operational lapses across departments, including an incident highlighted by BJP MLA Raj Sinha in which orthopaedic supporting devices meant for elderly beneficiaries were allegedly replaced with vernier calipers.
Minister Irfan Ansari said an inquiry was underway and action would follow, noting that the items were worth only ₹2.48 lakh and that an individual named Laldev Rajak had misled the department.
JMM MLA Md. Tajuddin raised concerns over the non-functioning trauma centre at Rajmahal Sub-Divisional Hospital, to which Minister Irfan admitted that doctor shortages were delaying operations and assured on-site inspection.
