IRGC says 26 commercial vessels successfully traversed Strait of Hormuz in 24hrs

Tehran, May 20 (UNI) Iran's powerful theocratic guard, the IRGC claimed Wednesday that over 26 commercial vessels had managed to successfully traverse the Strait of Hormuz in coordination with Iranian authorities over the past 24 hours, despite the ongoing heavy US naval blockade of Iranian ports.
The vessels which passed through included oil tankers, container ships, and other commercial vessels, the IRGC Navy said in a statement, adding that transit through the crucial waterway was "ongoing with permits obtained and in coordination with the IRGC Navy", Iranian media reported.
Iran virtually paralysed all shipping through the strait in early April, accusing the US of violating an ongoing ceasefire agreement, allowing very limited passage to vessels from select nations in direct coordination with Iranian authorities, who are also charging vessels tolls for using the route. The Iranian blockade has effectively blocked a fifth of the total global oil flow, hammering energy markets and leading to energy prices skyrocketing.
