Iraqi PM pledges to protect U.S.-led coalition advisors

Baghdad, Aug 13 (UNI) Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani has reaffirmed Iraq's commitment to preventing any actions that could endanger the U.S.-led coalition advisors tasked with helping Iraq fight the extremist Islamic State (IS) militant group.
The prime minister made the remarks during a phone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken late Monday night as the two sides discussed regional developments and efforts to bolster regional and international stability, according to a statement released by al-Sudani's media office on Tuesday.
Al-Sudani stressed the need to continue communication between the two sides "to end the coalition's mission in Iraq and move to bilateral security relations," according to the statement.

Speaking to the Izvestia newspaper, Matsegora flagged two key symbolic occasions for these visits: the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of Korea on August 15, marking the end of Japanese colonial rule in 1945, and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea on October 10, the ruling party in North Korea since its inception in 1945. These anniversaries carry immense historical and political weight for Pyongyang.
