Iranian protesters storm outside Foreign Ministry office to rally against peace deal, chant ‘death to Araghchi’

Tehran, Jun 14 (UNI) Dozens of demonstrators gathered outside a Foreign Ministry office in the northeastern Iranian city of Mashhad, protesting against Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, as the ongoing negotiations over a possible agreement with the US seemingly move closer to a conclusion.
Footage published by Iran's semi-official IRGC-backed Fars news agency showed women dressed in black chadors chanting slogans against Araghchi and waving red and black flags outside the ministry building, chanting "Death to dishonourable Araghchi, the infiltrator."
The protest came on Saturday amidst increasing opposition from hardline factions within the country to the proposed Pakistan-Egypt mediated peace agreement with Washington, as critics argue that the deal would be detrimental to Tehran’s strategic position and reduce its leverage over the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important energy shipping routes.
