Iranian authorities seemingly seize power amid nationwide security deployment, residents note conditions akin to de-facto curfew

Tehran, Jan 15 (UNI) Short of formally declaring a national emerency, Iranian authorities sharply expanded the deployment of security forces across major cities, tightening control in an effort to suppress further unrest.
In the capital, residents said movement, communications, healthcare activity and access to schools and universities are all under close government supervision.
"It's like a de facto curfew," one Tehran resident said, describing a tense atmosphere in which people avoid unnecessary travel or public gatherings.
