Iran put forward proposal to halt its uranium enrichment for 20 years during its talks with US

Tehran, Apr 14 (UNI) Iran put forward a proposal where it reportedly offered to pause uranium enrichment for up to five years during negotiations with the US in Islamabad, offering a shorter-term compromise against Washington's far more expansive demand for a 20-year halt.
However, despite extended discussions, no agreement was reached, with differences spanning not only enrichment timelines but also sanctions relief and the handling of Iran's existing uranium stockpile.
According to a report by the New York Times, citing US and Iranian officials, Iran had floated a similar proposal earlier this year during negotiations in Geneva, shortly before the conflict escalated.
