Interstate Wedding Theft Gang Member Arrested in Gurugram; ₹9 Lakh Cash Recovered

Gurugram, July 20 (UNI) Gurugram Police have arrested a key member of an interstate gang that allegedly targeted wedding functions across several states by stealing cash and jewellery from unsuspecting guests. Police recovered ₹9 lakh in cash from the accused during remand and are probing his involvement in similar thefts nationwide.
According to a police spokesperson, the case dates back to November 29, 2025, when a complaint was lodged at City Sohna Police Station alleging that an unidentified person had stolen a bag containing several lakhs of rupees, jewellery and other valuables during an engagement ceremony held at Agrasen Bhawan on Sohna-Palwal Road the previous night. An FIR was registered under the relevant provisions of law.
Following sustained investigation and technical surveillance, a Crime Branch team from Sohna arrested the accused, Nikhil (21), a resident of Kadiya Sansi village in Madhya Pradesh's Rajgarh district, from Bhopal Railway Station on July 16, 2026. He was produced before a court, which remanded him to five days of police custody.
