Intensive TB campaign identifies 89,967 patients in UP

Lucknow, Feb 18 (UNI) In a major achievement for Uttar Pradesh government, health workers have identified 89,967 tuberculosis (TB) patients across the state's 75 districts in the first 69 days of the 100-day TB campaign, official sources said here on Tuesday.
Sources said that led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the campaign has reached 74 percent of the high-risk population, with over 12.5 lakh individuals receiving TB prevention medicine. It may be noted that the government has set a target of making the state TB-free by the end of this year. To achieve this, the 100-day intensive campaign is being carried out statewide.
State Tuberculosis Officer Dr Shailendra Bhatnagar said TB Preventive Treatment (TPT) is being provided to prevent asymptomatic individuals from contracting the disease. "As part of this effort, 12,65,376 people have been given TPT so far," he said.
