INPT to block road in Kanchanpur demanding development

Agartala, Dec 28 (UNI) In an attempt to step up pressure on the administration, the tribal based opposition Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra (INPT) will stage blockade of National Highway tomorrow in Kanchanpur of North Tripura seeking assurance of basic amenities in the villages under autonomous district council (ADC) administration.
INPT leaders said that Jamarai and Kangrai ADC villages have been reeling under severe shortage of basic amenities including purified drinking water supply, health care and road connectivity. The issues have several times been brought to the notice of the administration but no action is taken yet.
The party supporters will block Kanchanpur-Jampui 44A highway on December 29 next at two locations since morning, said Brajendra Debbarma adding, “Under prevailing situation we have decided to stage road blockades demanding immediate arrangement of drinking water, electrification in un-electrified villages and ensure motorable road in both ADC villages in time bound manner.”
He said that 25 years of communist rule could not ensure basic amenities for the tribal villagers yet and most of the ADC villages are deprived of basic facilities. The party talked about the development of tribal population of the state but practically tribal people of the state are the worst sufferers during the left front rule, Debbarma added.
