Indonesian delegation to visit India to follow up on defence cooperation agreement: Indonesian President

New Delhi, Jan 25 (UNI) With Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that India and Indonesia have decided to work together in the field of defence manufacturing, visiting Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said that a high-level Indonesian delegation would visit India to follow up on the Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA) between the two sides.
He also said that the partnership between the two nations will be a solid foundation for both countries and strengthen the friendship that has existed for 75 years.
In a post on X, the Indonesian President said
“At Hyderabad House, New Delhi, the Prime Minister @narendramodi and I witnessed the signing of several memorandums of understanding that expand the strategic partnership between Indonesia and India. This cooperation covers various important areas such as economy, health, maritime security, investment, culture, and digital infrastructure development.
“This partnership will be a solid foundation for both countries to continue moving forward, strengthening the friendship that has existed for 75 years. I also express my gratitude for India's warm welcome to Indonesia's membership in BRICS.”
While delivering his address after holding bilateral talks with PM Modi, President Prabowo said he is waiting for a schedule from the Indian government for sending a delegation to India to follow up on the defence cooperation.
"We recently ratified the defence cooperation agreement, and we will send a high-level delegation in the field of defence as soon as possible, according to the schedule set by the Indian government," he said at Hyderabad House.
President Prabowo also said the cooperation between Indonesia and India has continued to grow in various sectors.
During his meeting with PM Modi at Hyderabad House, President Prabowo emphasized Indonesia's commitment to stepping up cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, tourism, health, energy, digital technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and information technology (IT), antara news reported.
"I am also happy to report that our discussions with many leaders from the Indian industrial sector are going well, and we have talked in detail about how India can become more involved in the Indonesian economy," he said.
He also invited Indian investors to participate in infrastructure development projects in Indonesia.
President Prabowo invited India to get involved in more infrastructure programs in Indonesia.
“We are opening our economy to investment and participation in the field of infrastructure, and we invite Indian groups to take part in the infrastructure program of Indonesia,” he said.
He also committed to accelerating the bilateral cooperation between the two sides, especially in the investment and technology sectors, by trying to cut bureaucracy that hinders investment flows.
President Prabowo asked all his ministers to improve and advance economic partnerships with India to take forward the long-term strategic partnership.
The Indonesian President also invited Indian educational institutions to expand their services to Indonesia.
"In the education sector, we appreciate your assistance in increasing the number of our students studying in India; We also invite Indian educational institutions to set up branches in Indonesia," Prabowo said.
The two sides inked MoUs in the field of Health Cooperation; Maritime Safety and Security Cooperation between Indian Coast Guard and BAKAMLA, Indonesia. (Renewal); in the Field of Traditional Medicine Quality Assurance between Pharmacopoeia Commission for Indian Medicine & Homeopathy; on Cooperation in the Fields of Digital Development; Cultural Exchange Program.
The report of the 3rd India- Indonesia CEOs Forum was also released.
