Indian Railways plans 7,900 kms of track renewal over next two years

New Delhi, January 18 (UNI) Sustained investment in rail infrastructure has significantly enhanced safety and operational efficiency across the national rail network, with Indian Railways completing track renewal works spanning 6,851 kms during 2024-25.
Projects covering more than 7,500 kms are currently underway and an additional 7,900 kms of track renewal is planned over the next two years.
In a statement issued here, the Ministry of Railways stated that the modernisation push has also sharply expanded high-speed-capable rail corridors, with the length of tracks supporting speeds of 110 kmph and above rising from 31,445 km in 2014 to 84,244 km at present. This jump enables faster and safer train operations across nearly 80 per cent of the country’s rail network.

As per the revised programme, the final electoral rolls in both states will now be published on October 3.

New Delhi said it continues to deepen collaboration with Washington against terrorism and transnational criminal networks.

Delhi govt launches citywide child safety initiative based on parent- teacher dialogue

New Delhi, Jul 14 (UNI) In a first-of-its-kind initiative to strengthen child protection through active parent-school partnership, the Delhi government has launched a city-wide child safety initiative through its upcoming ‘Abhibhavak Shikshak Samvaad’ on 25 July, with the theme "Child Safety and Protection."
In these sessions, the teachers will interact with the parents on topics such as safe and unsafe touch, body autonomy, and the "No-Go-Tell" principle.

Drug network busted: Crime Branch seizes 26 35 kg ganja, three arrested

New Delhi, July 14 (UNI) The Delhi Police Crime Branch has busted an alleged interstate ganja trafficking network operating between Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Delhi-NCR, arresting three accused and seizing 26.35 kg of ganja, a commercial quantity. Police said the operation disrupted a major narcotics supply chain and further investigation is underway to identify other members of the syndicate and trace the financial trail.
